8 days sailing and trekking tour in Greece

Sailing and Trekking in Cyclades

Discover some of the most beautiful Greek islands, all with their unique characteristics! Start from Mikonos island the most cosmopolitan of all with its superb sandy beaches, to continue to Naxos Island for the challenge of climbing Mt. Zas, the highest peak in the Cyclades, walk on the old Shepherds’ trails at the island of Amorgos and Sikinos. Our "grand finale" is the spectacular island of Santorini, to discover the Fira, Imerovigli and the famous for its sunset village of Ia Trek on the comfortable path on the edge of Caldera's ochre cliff, enjoy the spectacular view of the islands Nea Kameni, Palea Kameni and Thirasia, swim in the hot springs and explore the still active volcano of Nea kameni!

This program is designed for adventurers who wish to combine sailing with the exploration of the unique Greek islands, lonely and remote beaches accessible by boat. The Cycladic complex of islands is the most representative of the archetypical Greek style. Fishing villages with whitewashed flat roofed houses and narrow streets, hundreds of chapels, rocky landscape contrasting with the deep blue sea and bays with powdery white sandy beaches are waiting to discover them.

Cyclades 8-day sailing and hiking tour - Itinerary

DAY 1: MIKONOS – NAXOS SAILING (5hrs Sailing)
Our sailing trip starts from Mikonos. We embark on our sailing boat at 12 a.m. and will have time to settle in the cabins before we start sailing to Naxos. We will arrive in Naxos in the evening.
(Overnight in Naxos)

DAY 2 : NAXOS – MOUNT ZAS (4hrs Walk - 3hrs Sailing)
Today is a walking day. Early in the morning we will be transferred by taxis or bus to the inland to walk towards the highest peak of Mt. Zas (1004m. altitude). The panoramic view from the summit, covering Naxos and the surrounding Cycladic islands, is amazing. The duration of the trek will be approximately 4-5 hours. In the afternoon, depending on the weather’s conditions and the time left, we will sail to the small Cyclades. (Overnight in Iraklia or Schinoussa)

DAY 3: SAILING DAY TO AMORGOS (5hrs Sailing)
This is a full sailing day. We will leave the port in the morning and after crossing the small Cyclades we will anchor our boat at Amorgos, famous for its blue waters and the movie “The Big Blue”.
(Overnight in Amorgos)

DAY 4: THE SPINE – CROSSING WALK (5-6hrs walk)
Today we shall get the sense of the old trade routes by following the mule path that joins the lower with the upper part of Amorgos. We will start by visiting the Monastery of Panagia Chozoviotissa built in the 10th century in a big cave. Our walk ends in the region of Aegiali in the north part of the island. (Overnight in Amorgos)

DAY 5 : AMORGOS – SIKINOS (6hrs Sailing)
Today we sail to the island of Sikinos. Sikinos is a small island that has been kept intact in time, keeping the traditional Cycladic colors, giving us the feeling of past life. (Overnight in Sikinos)

DAY 6: SIKINOS WALK – SAIL TO SANTORINI (4hrs Walk – 2hrs Sailing)
Start early in the morning to explore the island of Sikinos by following the shepherds’ trails. This is a rich walk giving us the opportunity to discover ancient remains, small hills and remote beaches. In the afternoon we will sail south to reach the bay of Ia in the island of Santorini after approximately 2 hours. (Overnight in Santorini)

DAY 7: EXPLORE THE CALDERA(5-6hrs Walk)
Today we shall explore the Caldera of Santorini. Depending the weather we will either sail by the steep volcanic slopes next to the volcano and the hot springs or we will walk along the Caldera from Ia to Fira and enjoy the magical view. Both options will be very rewarding and will demand a lot of your cameras’ memory capacity. (Overnight in Santorini)

DAY 8: DEPARTURE
This is the last day of the trip. We will have to disembark from our sailing boat after breakfast.
